The Outsiders (1983) Outsidersmovie

Have you seen The Outsiders? If so, what did you think? All I call recall about the movie is C. Thomas Howell and Ralph Macchio's characters being on the run, I think. Why, I can't recall.

Is this the movie where the boys played a practical joke and accidentally killed a hot dog vendor, had to go to juvie prison and were raped my the guards? If so, I did see it and I really enjoyed that movie. Good story.

i remember seeing this a few times when i was a kid.. i liked it.

few things i remember about this movie, i remember c thomas howell dying his hair blonde when they were on the run, ralph macchio being burned for helping save them children, and emilio estevez laughing at the other gangs high water pants Smile

chris, i believe they were on the run cuz of a killing that happened during one of the gang fights.

ny, i dont think outsiders is the movie your thinking of, i dont recall anyone going to juvi and being raped.

What is amazing is the cast of boys; so many of them turned out to be leading men of the '80s & '90s.

Okay, this is the movie I was thinking of. The covers look the same:

The Outsiders (1983) 600full-sleepers-poster

If you haven't seen it, then you need to. Really, really good film.

I think this may have been the first time Dustin Hoffman and Robert De Niro played a scene together. Beats the shit out of "The Focker" movies as far as I'm concerned. The scene where Jason Patric tells De Niro about what they went through at the reform school. There's no dialoge...you can just see De Niro's face as he hears the story and the tears well up in his eyes.

Speaking of The Exorsist, Jason Patric (Shakes) is the son of the late Jason Miller (Father Karras). He's also Jackie Gleason's grandson.

The Outsiders wasn't bad. Part of the S.E. Hinton trilogy of the early 80's along with Rumble Fish and Tex. My man Tom Waits is in the two directed by Coppola 'cause they're tight. He's friends with nephew Nicholas Cage too.

^^^ Yep. That was a very moving scene for me. I don't care what anyone says. De Niro's the GOAT.

The Outsiders (1983) Empty
PostSubject: Re: The Outsiders (1983)   The Outsiders (1983) EmptyMon Jul 11, 2011 12:26 am

a drunken rich boy started with ralph macchio and c thomas howell while they were hanging in a playground. The rich boy's girlfriend had been talking to the two girls at a drive in earlier. I'm pretty sure that the rich kid came after Ralph Macchio with a broken bottle and Ralph stabbed him. The two boys then went on the run, and yes Howell did bleach his hair. The boys hide out in an old church, they went to eat and when they return the church is on fire (probably from one of their cigarettes) and some kids on a field trip are trapped inside. The boys rush into the church with matt dillon in toe to rescue the children and a teacher. macchio is critically injured and charged with killing the boy. the girls come forward to state that it was self defense, but tragedy strikes anyway. GREAT cast!
