i usually call my roommate, if its something he can't do then its time for the pros

It depends on what it is. Some repairs around the home need a professional. If its something I can tackle then I do it.

Ditto except I have a maintenance office I call. Last week, the switch to the kitchen light went. It's something I could have done myself and would have if they took their time getting to me but they're usually pretty good.

But, I rent. Any problems other than hanging pics or working on my bike, I let the landlord know.

Around the house--I can do the simple stuff, but I call someone if it's something I don't know how to do.
At work--I'm the go-to person for fixing the machines in the lab if they screw up. I'm actually pretty good with changing parts inside them and trying to get them working again if they're having an issue, but there, too, if I can't get it running again, I'll call the company hotline and get service in.

I call the landlord if something goes wrong in the house. But as far as being handy in putting up stands or putting together furniture, I'm quite handy at that. I don't need anyone to do it for me......as long as it comes with instructions, lol.

I am not very handy, and that is something I am working on. I know that a lot of things I get people to do, I could and should just tackle myself.

I'm not Mr. Fixit at all. If something breaks or needs to be repaired, then I most likely will call in somebody who knows what they're doing.
