Couldn't follow? Donnie Darko comes to mind, and Juno, and most of the movies I had to watch in film class in college.

Pineapple Express. It's not that I couldn't follow it, but it was all over the place.

I also pick the Matrix movies! My husband loves them. We own all 3, and I never watch. I correct myself, my husband loves the first one, and finds the next 2 disappointing.

Fun with Dick and Jane. I can't remember why, but everytime I see it on the guide, I recall that we just couldn't get into it.

It's rare that I can't follow a movie. (The TV show Alias came close though. ) But there's a lot of movies I can't get into.

I also had problems with Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. Or perhaps I just wasn't that interested.

Glad it's not just me. I've had people try to explain it & my eyes still glaze over.

Oh, no one can understand Memento from one viewing! It took about 4 for me to start to piece together all the events.

I didn't care for The Fountain - too metaphysical to the point of confusion.
Likewise the recent The Tree of Life literally jumped all over the universe.
Am I that weird? I cannot believe ppl couldn't follow The Matrix.
It was a simple str8 forward story of an artificial existence inside the matrix, run by AI machines with input from hooked up humans who were not aware of their IRL existence.
I understood it so well I fault the writers for a couple of flaws in the premise (humans cannot be batteries but could be great storage for computer operations and the matrix is constructed to preserve their sanity)
