How do you feel about prisoners having Facebook (or other social networking) accounts?

https://www.facebook.com/?ref=home#!/profile.php?id=100002190380913

This inmate has a Facebook account that he's using to spread awareness about his living condition in lockdown. He, himself, isn't running it; but someone on the outside is doing it for him, and those are said to be his real words.

I'm not heartless but people aren't in prison to enjoy the exact same freedoms. They should save social networking for when they get out. They can write & have phone privileges. They can send their hellos through visitors. It seems to defeat the purpose. The tax payers provide food, housing, clothes & other necessities as well as medical care. Their internet service & twitting should be on their own time & dime.

Well, it looks like we aren't paying for that. He has a friend on the outside doing the FB page.

I mean, really... of course there is corruption, and I do think there needs to be a change in the way prisons are run. But I don't have much sympathy for murderers.

Don't see it as a big deal since he's not the one running it. If somebody on the outside is the real admin of it then its THEIR site even if the subject is about the prisoner.

I can agree with that. As long as the inmates aren't doing it themselves, people on the outside can do whatever they want with their own websites.
