As distasteful as I find Mel Gibson personally, he does make some good movies. The beginning of the end for the Mayan Empire.

As a complete work of fiction I liked Apocalypto. Mel missed some historical points by a few hundred years and confused Mayan with Aztec but it was more believable than Pathfinder.

I liked the subtitles where the Indian got bit in the neck by a poisonous snake and his buddy says "you're fucked." I mean, no matter what the native words were, that is likely what he said. blank stare @ you

I saw portions of Apocalypto, and it isn't my thing at all, but I can recognize what an achievement it is to make.

The funny thing is, I found it too much for my sensibilities, which are not all that delicate! My boss's 10 year old loves the movie! He isn't upset by it at all. I guess to a kid, it is an adventure story.
