Transformers: Dark of the Moon

This is the third biennial installment of Transformers and if you liked the others, this one is the same, with a different story of course but most of the original characters plus a couple new ones. And as with the other two, the critics don't care for it (37%) and the audiences (which I'm sure are mostly kids for this PG-13 flick) love it (90%). Oh, count me in with the kids.
It is what it is! A summer vacation action sci-fi, based on Hasbro toys that came out long after my childhood. My only problem with it is the 2 and a half hour length, same as the other two. It could have been tightened up as with most movies over 2 hours. But guess the kids could watch this mayhem and destruction all day.
As you may have seen in the trailers, Chicago Gets Trashed
But before those big battles happen we learn that our space race in the '60s was because we tracked an extraterrestrial craft that crashed on the dark side of the moon in 1961. By 1969 we were the first to get there (ya know the Soviets were trying too) and found the remains of Autobots. This was all kept top secret - no one knew including Optimus Prime. But, some technology did make it back to earth.
Now we get to the present day, where the Autobots are working with our military to fight standard baddies and terrorists on the planet under Lt. Col. William Lenox (Josh Duhamel). Of course you need a clueless bureaucrat to be in charge and this time it is Charlotte Mearing (Frances McDormand) U.S. Secretary of Defense.
Secretary Mearing giving orders to Col. Lennox
Former Sector 7 agent Seymour Simmons (John Turturro) is trying to sell a book. Sam Witwicki (Shia LeBeouf) is out of college and trying to get a job. He has a new girlfriend Carly (Rosie Huntington-Whiteley) who's supporting him (Megan Fox burned her Transformer bridges).
(Sorry Sam, she's another fox outta ur league)
Rosie's boss Dylan (Patrick Dempsey) is a notorious womanizer and has wealth and collects antique cars, which makes Sam feel even less a man. Oh and Bumble Bee, Sam's yellow Camaro is off working with the other Autobots. Sam finally gets a job in a company run by obsessive-compulsive, Bruce Brazos (John Malkovich).
At about this point Decepticons show up where Sam works and all these old comrades in arms are brot together again to join Optimus Prime and the Autobots to fight this new threat.
Sam & Agent Simmons Tracking Decepticons
If this all seems kinda sketchy for such a long and involved movie, that's because it was mostly over-the-top battles with humans and Autobots against some really powerful and mean Decepticons, whose newest machines saw skyscrapers in half giving almost non-stop action once the action kicks in. And that is what you go to these movies for, so sit back and enjoy. I did.
