Would You Lease a Car?

Have you ever leased a car....and if you haven't, would you?

I won't. While I am totally into leasing my home, I won't lease a vehicle. I can't explain the difference to me.

Now, with my dad, I think he is a fool for not leasing. He gets a new car ever two years, puts next to nothing on it in miles (he usually drives a truck, while his new car sits in the garage). He would be the best leasing candidate, yet he never does.

^Ditto & ditto. I tend to keep my cars longer and I don't like the idea of having to worry if I'm going to have to start paying an extra 10¢ per mile or whatever. For some people leasing makes perfect sense though.

I haven't yet but I am thinking about doing it. I have to weigh the pro's and con's of leasing first.

I would consider leasing a car. I don't put a lot of miles on per year, so that way it is good. The payments are lower each month than buying.

When buying, after all those payments, you own a car that isn't worth much. How do I know? Because I own a car that isn't worth much!

I haven't, but I've definitely thought about it. To get a new car every 3 or so years is a big plus and if you can't afford to finance the car you want, you could always lease it and turn it back in. I've been on the brink about 3 times getting that '11 Audi A4 and twice I was going to lease it because I know that if I financed....I'd be stuck with the car and I know there is going to be something else I like buy the time I finish paying it off.

I'd rather own my vehicle but if I can't outright purchase the car upfront, then I would rather lease than have to spend years making car payments toward some day owning it.

I leased a my Toyota Camry back in 1996. The only problem I had with it was I went over the mileage by the time I had to turn it in and I had to pay extra, so I outright bought my next car, but if you can keep the mileage to where it's supposed to be and you like getting a new car every few years, it's not a bad thing.
