| Has anybody ever seen this movie? I haven't, but I was reading about it and decided it might be worth viewing; especially since for a large part it disregards the 1939 movie and is largely made up from the books the Wonderful Land of Oz and Ozma of Oz. And I can't wait to see Jack Pumpkinhead and Tik-Tok the Clockwork man prior to CGI, YAY LIVE ACTION! | |

| Yeah - I saw it years back. They actually had a girl who was the RIGHT age playing Dorothy. | |

| The crazy mother from Carrie is if I read right, the old witch Mombi, that sounds about right. | |

| On Showtime? It's showing on July 14th on that channel but that's one we never had, fortunately though I've got the library ordering in a copy on a loan. | |

| It was on Saturday morning I was watching some of it over my Dad's house, it didn't look that good at all from what I saw. | |

| Yeah, it aired on Showtime Beyond this morning. I DVR'd it, but haven't watched but ten minutes of it so far. The cable guide refers to it as a 'dark' sequel. From the little bit I saw, it seemed like Dorothy in this had been having visions of Oz, with the scarecrow/lion/tinman/Emerald City, but no one believes her when she talks about it. I stopped at the part where Aunt 'Em took her to a psychiatrist. | |

| I just saw this movie tonight and...it was GOOOOOOD! I liked it! A big advantage it had over the 1939 movie was there was no singing! And I loved Jack Pumpkinhead, he was funny in the books, he was hysterical in the movie, and I liked the Scarecrow, he looked better with his face the way it should've been, painted on. Of course this wasn't the origina intention but it still works better that way after you read the books and you know what they actually look like, and I was surprised, even though Nick Chopper the Tin Woodsman is practically nonexistent here, mainly just as a statue, they built him to look like his original illustrations as well. It's too bad this movie didn't do better at the box office because I think it gives decent competition to the Judy Garland one. Only one thing I didn't get, why was the nurse arrested at the end? | |

| People call this one of Disney's darker films and it's definitely darker compared to the sugar sweet original but at the same time, I think this was a good era for Disney, they took it to a different level, their movies were PG and earned every part of that rating...what happened? | |

| This is not about the movie itself but boy, for a movie that did not do well and a lot of people don't know about, it is VERY popular at the library here. The copy I donated has been checked out again and I think this makes the 6th or 7th time since it was put on the shelf in summer. Considering it was 2 weeks late the last time, that's a pretty good run for a movie they weren't even sure about taking since they didn't know anything about it. | |
