Awww, damn! The other girls lived to be in their in 80's...she should've lived another 10 yrs at least. Blanche was funny. RIP.

Not Blanche...2010 looks like it's shaping up to be almost as bad as 2009 was as far as celebrity deaths go.

I have been appalled all day at the news of her passing. Rue played the hell out of lusty, southern belle diva Blanche.
Her and Sandra Clark used to make NBC Saturday night the real "Must See TV" back in the glorious 1980s. Rest in Peace.

She did. I believe she had bypass surgery earlier this year, and about a decade ago she had breast cancer. I also heard that she suffered some sort of ailment while she played on Mama's Family. I was anticipating Rue's passing more than Bea Arthur's.

I saw Rue on TMZ a few months ago. What a shame to be losing the GG in such quick succession. I hope Betty White remains with us for long while to come.

You're right. Estelle died in '08, Bea in '09, now Rue in '10. Someone keep a watchful eye on Betty (the eldest cast member) from now on.

At least they lived long lives. I loved all of them, but my favorite GG would have to be Sophia. Her wit and comedic timing was devastating. Dorothy had good timing too, but Sophia was on another level. I remember when she called Blanche a slut puppy. I was done.

YEah Sophia was probably tied with Blanche as the best. Then Dorothy. I think I liked Rose the least.
