If your child misbehaved in any way big or small, and a complete stranger chastised them in front of you, how would you react?

It would probably depend on the situation. But "Mind your own fucking business" is a possibility lol

I'm old school. I think that if a kid is being a little shit, people have the right to say something. That said, it has to be within lines.

Example: If a kid pushes your kid in the mud, I think it's more than appropriate to scold the offender. And to ask for his/her parent.

If the misbehavior had to do with a safety issue with him or someone else, I would be ok with it, unless the person took it too far.

One thing that bugs the hell out of me is when I correct my son about something and then another adult adds to it. If I have it handled, I don't need somebody else chiming in.

It would depend on the situation. There are times I've felt like telling kids off when they're behaving like little terrors. This one time, a family was at a grocery store and letting their two boys run absolutely wild. These kids were rolling all over the floor and chasing each other and they seemed to be everywhere. There were people using walkers and canes in the store and people with buggies but these parents made no attempt to even try to stop the kids - just let them get in everyone's way and run into people and so forth. I was in the store for about 25 minutes and really thought about complaining to the manager. I'd have applauded someone telling those two brats, and their parents, off.

Usually, I wouldn't tolerate it if I'm right there and can do it myself. If my child were doing something wrong, while I wasn't immediately in eye/earshot, as soon as I'm back in the picture the scolding can stop on their end. I got it.

I agree with Chris. If my child were acting up that bad and needed to be scolded, but I (or some other adult she's been entrusted to) wasn't around to do it, then a little chastising from some adult stranger probably wouldn't hurt. But no way is another adult going to get in my child's face in front of me. Mind your own business.

I agree with what CeCe and Chris said. Thanks, but I'll handle it. I wouldn't go along with someone going off on my child like they were his or her parent.
