cheaps thread about the guy high of life prompted me to ask this.

D.A.R.E. DARE

When you were a kid, did your school participate in D.A.R.E. (or have you ever had a child whose school did?) What do you think of the program overall?

Yes, my school did. Shrugs (Oh well…)

It's a good concept. Don't know the statistics on how effective it is but I don't see any harm in continuing it.

It wasn't invented for some of us. My daughter had it in 6th grade(?). I know she's not strung out on anything but I also know it's not because of D.A.R.E. I've come to really hate the war on drugs.

Yep! All we could do was smoke cigarettes outside the schoolyard gate, until one of the badass, war vet assistant principles came out and scared us all inside.

Cigarettes? We called them joints, doobies, numbers, etc. These regional dialects/colloquialisms sure are something.

NO. Cigarettes. Just tobacco cigarettes. Joints came much later for me.

Remember, I was in HS in the early '60s. Our only drug was stolen or otherwise illegal booze.
