What did you think of the 'No H8' campaign that started after the passage of Prop 8. While it was initially intended to raise awareness and funds to support the cause, some claim that it is a disingenuous way for celebrities to promote themselves.

What do you think of the whole thing?

Didn't pay much attention to it. Just struck me as another special interest group trying to change what it didn't like. Nothing special, not worth my mental time.

It's as much their right to advocate for their civil rights as it is for the people who want to take those rights away.

There will always be opportunistic people but it doesn't diminish the work of the group behind it. From what I've seen, organizations like "No H8" & "It Gets Better" are doing a good job of raising awareness. That's the important thing. That can't be discredited by a few "has been" or "wannabe" celebs attempting to draw attention to themselves. And some of these celebs ARE genuinely interested in the cause & if that helps to get people's attention it's well worth it.

Decent concept, with an admirable message, even if the photos are so washed out and airbrushed that they become practically animated.

I think that anything a celebrity does for free to promote something good for the masses, I am all for it, even if it is just them using it as an attention grabber.

My guess is it's to symbolize not being heard, represented, counted, etc.

On November 4, 2008 Proposition 8 passed in California, amending the state Constitution to ban same-sex marriage. The defeat provoked a groundswell of initiative within the GLBT community at a grassroots level, with many new political and protest organizations being formed in response.

The NOH8 Campaign is a photographic silent protest created by celebrity photographer Adam Bouska (http://www.bouska.net) and partner Jeff Parshley in direct response to the passage of Proposition 8. I live in California and even I haven't heard of it, lol.
