    OSX86 / Hackintoshing Empty OSX86 / Hackintoshing

Post by (Oh!) Rob Petrie Wed Jul 13, 2011 2:46 pm

I just got my third computer to boot into Mac OS X. This makes my total number of successful Hackintoshes three.

    So, far:

    HP Mini 110 running OS X 10.5.8 - Leopard

    Compaq Evo D10 running OS X 10.5.5 - Leopard

    HP Pavilion ze4910us running OS X 10.4.8 - Tiger

I have to get wi-fi running on the Pavilion.

Anybody else have any hacking/OSX86 experience?

ROFLMAO! No, but I nominate (Oh!) Rob Petrie as the Chamber computer guru. I think more than once he's easily saved someone's computer bacon.

Woo. Computer guru! I'm very good with gadgets and the like. Wink

Basically, OSX86 is a project that gets the Apple operating system (Mac OS X) running on other Intel machines (PCs). So far, I've managed to get the operating system, which is meant to be locked into Apple hardware exclusively, running on three non-Apple computers.

Well that is all pretty awesome. I didn't know there was a way for you computer smarties to even do that. I always just thought that a person was either a Mac person or a PC person.

So is the benefit only using the physical PC because you have one on hand, or does this hacking brings benefits from both Mac and PC?

I do it because I love Mac OS X, but I hate how much money Apple charges for their products. This is the best of both worlds! Smile

The two computers I just hacked aren't the most functional given their age, but the HP Mini (newer tech) was $300 vs the Macbook Air, which is something like $700.
