I think we were dropped off at my grandmothers' mostly, but one time I remember staying across the street with the Bomaritos. They had a small family bakery downstairs.
One of their teen girls was in charge of us and she gave us fresh Italian bread with butter. You have to know that I was first generation to eat Wonder Bread, that tasteless American sandwich medium they sold as 'bread.' To this day I remember that first time eating REAL bread at the Bomaritos.
