Personally, no. Maybe they can help others but mostly I think they just help the author get rich.

No, not really. The courses and/or books could be engrossing while we're studying them, but once it's done we naturally go back to how we are. I've been through at least 3 of those personality workshop to help people "get along better", but all proved to be a waste of time.
