Depends on how long I have been seeing the SO and if there was absolutely nothing I could do to prevent the allergic reaction.

Absolutely yes. After all I have had him 54 years and if he was suddenly allergic to our cat she would be gone.

If my wife or daughter developed an allergy to cats I think they would take whatever medicine they need rather than give her up. Same for me. Once we no longer had the cat, we probably just wouldn't get another.

Since it's highly doubtful that I would even own any pets, yes.
