The big advantage is I'd rather stand at a nasty public urinal instead of sitting on a nasty toilet or having to squat over it.
PLUS - I can write my name in the snow (If I go up north in the winter).

I think men have the advantage of being able to stand when it's convenient (as Shale describes).
But don't think women don't spray seats. For many years I've wondered how in Hell women can leave piss droplets on toilet seats, and now I know that many of them squat over the seats in public restrooms. They don't lift the top seat first. I always carry seat liners. If I don't have them then I place toilet paper on the seats first.

It's advantage at home if you're living with a bunch of women. Other than that, it's disadvantage especially in public. Trying to mess with them seat protectors all the time ain't hot.
