OMG there were so many, four tops, Smokey and the miracles, Anthony and the imperials, Temptations, later years backstreet boys, 98Degrees, Nsync and many more! Its hard to choose since the music of each of them is different but I guess I have to go with the motown sound boybands.

I dunno. There are many different factors to consider. Most of the R&B bands were the truth. New Edition, Troop, Temptations, Jackson 5, etc. NSYNC and Backstreet Boys, 98 Degrees, etc were carbon copies. We all know who those "boy bands" try to emulate.
