    We do. Even here in the city they can be around, though it is rare.

    My son rode last weekend just outside the city and had a tick on his neck. Attached.

    Lymes disease is in the news a lot recently and I really do not like the thought of being in the woods this summer.

    Ticks suck.

    I live in a city and even tho we have 'possums here IDK about ticks. I haven't seen any.

    When I was a kid visiting rural Mississippi, used to get them on me all the time. They liked to latch onto my balls, evil little bugs. blank stare @ you

    IDK if there was any problem with Lyme disease back then - we just considered them a nuisance.

    One of the few things I really hate about the warmer temps. Mosquitoes & those damn ticks. Lyme & Rocky Mountain Spotted fever are nothing to take lightly.

    I have never encountered any here and we do have woods all around us. Worse we have bears and a neighbor told us the damn bear is back in our park. He tore up some of her garden and broke her bird bath. A couple of years ago he got into our trash and made a big mess. Left the watermelon rinds but ate the paper towels that I used to clean the electric griddle! Stopped him up good I hope!

    It isn't even just wooded areas. The damn things are everywhere. If anyone has contact with pets you need to not only check them but yourself periodically too.



    Tick Habitat

    Many people think ticks are only present in the woods. However, ticks can be found in many areas.

    Where woods/fields meet lawn
    Wooded areas
    Tall brush/grass
    Under leaves*
    Very small numbers on cut/raked lawns or sports fields
    Under ground cover (plants) in yard *
    Around stone walls and woodpiles where mice & other small mammals live

    *under plants/leaves to prevent dehydration

    You don't want to get paranoid about it but you do need to keep an eye out for them in these warm weather months.
