    OK, according to this article, "parents were reportedly warned that they would be asked to leave the auditorium". That's not the same as, "you will be arrested." This is bullshit. I hope that if this goes to trial, she has video of others cheering and not being arrested.

    A Myrtle Beach teen's high school graduation on Saturday was ruined when her excited mom, Shannon Cooper, was arrested for cheering.

    Although parents were reportedly warned that they would be asked to leave the auditorium where the ceremony was held if they applauded for individual students receiving their diplomas, Cooper disagreed with the policy. She told WPDE NewsChannel 15 that she decided, "I'm going to cheer, because…I've gone through too much to get her to this point." She added incredulously, "I can't let her know 'I'm so proud of you?'"

    When her daughter Iesha crossed the stage, Cooper claims that, "I got up and I said: 'Yay, my baby made it! Just a regular cheer.'" That's when police handcuffed her, escorted her to a van outside of the venue, and charged her with disorderly conduct. After the ceremony, her daughter broke down in tears when she spotted her mom being held in the van. "Are ya'll serious? Are ya'll for real? I mean, that's what I'm thinking in my mind," says Cooper. "I didn't say anything. I was just like okay, I can't fight the law." She challenges the validity of the disorderly conduct charge since she says she fully cooperated with police. She and her daughter also assert that others were cheering and avoided arrest.

    Yeah, if they said they would only be removed, the arrest doesn't seem right. It's not as if cheering isn't common at graduations.

    But, rules are rules and she was pretty silly for cheering in the first place.

    Rules or no rules, if it's a CRIME to cheer that your child has graduated, what's the point of even attending since verbally expressing your pride in your child is forbidden?

    Yeah but it's not a library, there's nobody shushing them for the whole ceremony, they're excited and with good reason, if they want to cheer I say let them, hell, let them do the wave if they want to, it's a celebration of a major accomplishment. Lightening up on the Pomp and Circumstance ain't gonna hurt anybody.

    How is she silly for cheering? From the way she tells it (and I believe her)....she wasn't being loud or obnoxious about it. And I'm willing to bet my left titty that she wasn't the ONLY person in that ENTIRE auditorium cheering or verbally acknowledging their child's graduation. There is another reason why she got singled out and the rest didn't. And I'm willing to bet my right titty that it was because of something she couldn't help.

    It's silly because she was told she would be escorted out if she cheered. Why risk embarrassing her daughter like that? Oh, and I wouldn't bet your right anything she couldn't help it as her interviews have pretty much stated she felt she had a right to cheer regardless of the rule put in place.

    escorted out and arrested are two different things. She felt she could "cheer" because other people were doing it. If you TRULY believe she was the only one discarding the rules for not cheering, therefore the sole person to get arrested....then LOL. And its a stupid rule anyway. It was only enforced because they wanted to make an example out of her. And yeah...I still will bet my right titty of the reason she got ARRESTED for some nonsense like this. It is SC after all.
