My mom didn't like my wife at first because she was black, but her family accepted me and I am still friends with them.
My partner Jim and I stayed with his sister's family in Louisiana and also with his brother and mother in Butler PA. IDK how much they accepted that Jim was gay but they were very cordial to me.
My 6-month play marriage with Lorily ended with me taking her to her family in Minnesota, where we were allowed to share a bed in the big family farmhouse and they were quite friendly to me.

Hasn't been an issue. The problems I've had have been with my family.
