Aurora resident sues the theater, the shooter's doctor and WB

Torrence Brown, Jr., one of the many Dark Knight Rises viewers who was inside the Aurora, Colorado movie theater when James Holmes opened fire last Friday morning, has filed a lawsuit in conjunction with the massacre.



Brown was not physically injured, but he lost close friend A.J. Boik in the shooting and says he's suffering from major trauma. As a result, he's filed a suit against three defendants:
1.The movie theater, which attorney Donald Karpel says was negligent in not possessing a more secure emergency door, which made it easy for Holmes to prop it open and enter it with his arsenal of guns.
2.Holmes' doctors. The lawyer also tells TMZ that Holmes is believed to have been on medication - he was acting VERY strangely yesterday in court - and his doctors failed in monitoring their patient properly.
3.Warner Bros., the studio behind The Dark Knighr Rises, because the movie is especially violent, Holmes was basing his actions largely around it and movie goes weren't even sure if he was part of the attraction or not when he first made his fatal move.

"Somebody has to be responsible for the rampant violence that is shown today," Karpel says.

There are many real victims with millions of dollars of medical bill mounting that should have a right to sue the theater for help. The emergency door could have been lacking by not having an alarm on it, but otherwise that is a stretch.

Unless a patient is bizarre enuf for a doctor to risk committing them against their will, not much you can do. This guy was acting sane enuf not have anyone call the cops beforehand.

And to sue a movie maker for making a movie that you wanted to see so bad you went to a midnight showing. Fuckhead should then sue himself for being a fuckhead.

Anybody alive in that instance that did not get injured in effect should not be suing for 'injury.'

I heard about this on the car radio this morning. Shame on this greedy opportunist looking to get money off of the back of this tragedy. Sure, while he may have lost a friend, he made it out of the whole melee physically unscathed. The lawsuit against WB is especially irksome. They had nothing to do with what this madman conjured up himself. I hope the case is thrown out.

And a lawsuit against WB even for them is ridiculous. The theater, because he shouldn't have been able to access so easily. Doubt there's much of a case against the doc for anyone as well. I'm sure it was a traumatic experience for everyone there but that doesn't mean the cash register should start ringing. The only ones who should be party to any suit are the ones actually injured.

I've already posted an article on a topic similar to this that it will be very difficult for even people who actually were shot to win a negligence law suit let alone this douchebag. Is he married? Will his wife sue for lack of consortium?
