I was never taken by him, because there was always something 'harsh' about his overall persona; but I did love his performance in Milk. Despite my having seen a number of his movies, that one was enough to make me a quasi-fan.

Sean Penn is a great actor and I like most of his movies but personality wise he's like he's a mix of cool, petty asshole and self-important douche. I don't like actor-activist types and that's what he is.

I think he's a good actor, not as good as I think he believes he is. There's something about his personality that is very..off-putting to me. I certainly don't watch a movie because he is in it. More likely to be in spite of it. I haven't seen "Milk" but really want to because of the content, not the actor.

It's never Penn himself that lures me to the movie, it's always the movie plotline itself with him just happening to be there. Good actor, but I'm not really a fan.

As I said, I'm not defending him and he may have said things against minorities that I didn’t come across when I first searched to try and find out what you meant. I didn’t dig all that deep. The Wyclef Jean flap was what was at the top of the list.

I can't remember one thing I've seen him in. I wanna see The Tree of Life maybe, but he looks like a misfit in it. I can't say I got any negative views about the guy but I can't really say I'm a fan either?
