Ricky Martin is no longer denying the rumors: He's confirming that he is gay. In a statement on his Web site, Martin says: "I am proud to say that I am a fortunate homosexual man. I am very blessed to be who I am." The "Livin' La Vida Loca" singer's sexuality has been speculated about for years, but he's never directly addressed it and was usually seen with beautiful women. But the singer says that writing his memoirs helped him realize that he had to be free with himself, and not keep any more secrets. His book hasn't been published yet.

It always gives me a bit of a chuckle how they suddenly get the courage to come out years after their career peak, and they are basically deemed hasbeens now. This is about as interesting as when the Enquirer outed Jon Knight from New Kids on the Block.
I hope he's in a more secure place and is at peace, but please don't go on the View proclaiming your newly found "out and proud" status, while simultaneously promoting that memoir you just happen to be penning.

Seriously tho... Good for him. His blog entry where he came out was an excellent read. He said that it was the right time 5 or 10 years ago. And I can sympathize with that. At least he didn't take this secret to the grave with him and now has the chance to breathe a little easier for not having to cloak & cover up more intimate details of his personal life.
