I don't. Every now and then I think about trying one but never have.

I downloaded my first Audiobook yesterday and burned it to four CDs. Now I'm listening to it via a portable CD player. Unfortunately it's not a very good book but I did learn how to download it from our library system and copy to a portable media. If I had an IPod, I could download it there too.

My eyesight is going downhill now so I stick to the large print section in the library. I got a Sony e-reader for Christmas. I really like it because I can change the text size to large. Sony e-readers are compatible with our library's e-book collection so I can download e-books to my reader.

No and I don't intend to ever get one. It seems kind of pointless to me. If I wanna read a book, I'll read a book.

Sorry, didn't mean to ignore your question, I simply missed seeing it.

The Audiobook that I downloaded was BEST OF THE WEST, a collection of short stories. I've only listened to two of them so far and I'm not impressed. I simply wanted to see if I could download a library audio book and burn it to disc. Apparently I can which is good to know. I haven't listened to more of it because I'm still wound up in reading an epic historical fiction book FALL OF GIANTS by Ken Follett. Its 985 pages long and I'm only on page 669.

Audio books are a GREAT resource in schools. Some of the kids I work with really struggle with reading due to disabilities and learning differences and audio books are opening up a whole new world for them. A friend of mine has a son who received no formal schooling until he came to live with them when he was 9 years old. he has learning disabilities and has only had a year and a half of real schooling but audio books give him a chance to enjoy the same books as his peers. He's just learning to read now but it's hard as he's missed SO much in his early years. He's also been diagnosed with Dyslexia, so the audio books give him a chance to enjoy books and work toward a goal.

I agree audiobooks can be very resourceful for people with certain disabilities.

I think they can be for long drives to pass the time or when I'm busy doing a lot of household chores I find the audiobooks to be sort of relaxing.
