I had DISH about 5 yrs ago...crappy customer service and they stayed in disputes with all the channels I liked.
When your contract is up, consider DIRECTV, never had a problem with them.

This is why I don't have satellite TV. That's one thing I don't want to deal with. When it's raining, that's when I'm home...I want to be relaxed and be able to watch television. None of that outage bs.

Its really not bad, this year so far I think it went out once during a really ferocious storm. It didn't even blink when we had the hurricane last month which I was really surprised!! The nice thing about DirecTv is that I have all the local channels on the east and west coast so if I miss something say on abc at 8pm I can watch it or DVR it at 11pm on the west coast abc.

I agree with you. I too ditched DISH for Direct TV. One of the reasons was technical. It seemed like every time, I looked around, I was having a signal problem, whether the weather was sunny or rainy. With Direct, I occasionally have a signal problem with a thunderstorm, but other than that, I don't have nearly as many technical problems with Direct TV as I did with DISH. Plus DirectTV has more stations.

Used to have Direct TV switched to Verizon FIOS. Love it. We used to lose signal with Direct TV if it rained too hard...let alone snow. We made it though 2 major snow storm and never lost service.

I can't mess with Satellite. Yeah, it probably has more channels, but I prefer the stability of digital cable. Like Nystyle said, when it's snowing or storming, that's the wrong time to have to put up with a lose of a signal, because that's when I'm usually in doors.

I live in Essex County, New Jersey and the weather here is too much for either Dish or Direct. When I pay for a service, I expect it to work every day, all day. Give me my cable any day!

Satellite generally costs about twenty bucks less a month than cable and offers more channels (and is usually the first to get the start up networks). That's worth dealing with the occasional down signal.

I agree it can be extremely annoying to lose a picture when you are watching something. If I had enough of this happening from Directv, I would have gotten rid of them but since it dosen't happen that often, I keep them. FIOS would be my choice if I went total cable but for now I love my Directv.
