    Conversion Software Empty Conversion Software

Post by Tony Marino Tue Mar 22, 2011 11:52 am

What kind of conversion software do you use to put your movies, music etc. onto DVD or CD? I bought Nero and have been very happy with it but it seems Nero has a timer built in it that after a year, you can only use certain functions of the software because it tells you you have to update licenses and when you try to do it, it tries to force you to buy an enhanced version. I have written them about this and of course they deny it and want all kinds of screen shots of the problem you are having.

Nero came with my PC, and while it worked on some of the files I wanted to put on DVD, at times it rejects others to the point where I had to try and "recreate" or recopy that video file with some other type of application....hoping that Nero would accept the knockoff.

For burning MP3s on CD-R, I use iTunes or Windows Media Viewer.

I use Any Video Converter and YouTube Mate to convert video files to other video formats, and AltoMP3 Gold to convert to files to mp3.

Does Any Video Converter burn to DVD as well? I have a new toy now, I bought an external hard drive, a portable one, 500gb, I can download anything, music, movies, pictures and just plug the little hard drive into my TV and I can view them without converting them onto a DVD its quite handy

No, it doesn't. It will just rearrange the file format. For burning onto DVR, what I would recommend is Real Player SP. I use that, and it works perfectly.

I have one called Format Factory that converts any type of file into anything you want including youtube music videos into MP3 files. Its totally free and I downloaded it from the net. Dosen't Real Play only convert RP files?

Real Player SP will burn all video formats, except Quick Time and FLV (that's where the AVC/YouTube Mate comes in, you can use them to convert files to avi or wmv.)

This. But I don't burn movies at all or music on a regular basis.

To tell ya truth, I know little about burning DVD's or CD. I do know that my husband copies DVD's all the time. I know there is a some sort of block that is suppose to not allow people to burn DVD's anymore but then they weren't married to a computer geek! I do know he has no problem burning all the DVD's that we watch and like. Hell, now days, you can rent a Red Box movie for $1 and after buying a whole pack of empty DVD's, you pay like 15 cents to own a movie.

Yes it does. I rarely use it to DVR burning, that's why I forgot to mention it, but yes it works too!

Yes it does but it gives you no choices if you want to use a D/L DVD. Nero is the best but I have a lot of trouble with it.
