How ridiculous did Rex look explaining to Rick, a porn peddling stranger who was trying to get him to make an X-rated movie, his devotion to Bo? Sometimes I just don't know how to take Rex, they lay him on so THICK that it's just hard to swallow.

I just can't take Rex seriously. He's too much like an overgrown kid and when he has scenes that are supposed to be serious, I find that the way JPL plays them, I can't help cracking up or rolling my eyes because it seems so overdone and unnatural.

Rex would be a better character is someone less cartoony were playing him IMO. I think the guy playing Cutter would make a better Rex than JPL. He plays Rex like a 19 year old and that makes his playing a family man with a teenage son look like a bad high school play. What's worse is when they give him those forced moments of "sincerity". Ugh. Vomit

Yeah - that's the impression I get, too, Kral. JPL plays Rex so cartoony that I can't take anything Rex does or says seriously. I also can't see Rex as someone in his 20's, or early 30's by now. I still see him as 18 or 19 years old so when Shane is thrown into the mix, it's even worse, because it really doesn't fit at all and just seems so forced and unnatural. the "sincerity" comes off as so fake and forced. I can take the teens far more seriously than Rex and I see more maturity from them many times than I see from Rex, esp. now that Starr has wised-up about Cole.
