    There will be 78 categories instead of the previous 108.

    one thing i dont agree with is the merging of the best female/male/group vocal performances into one category in the R&B field. Pop/Country are the only ones where female/male vocal and group vocal are two diff categories.

    i think male vocal/female vocal/group vocal should each have its own seperate categories.

    I think it's a matter of R&B music being very low on the commercial dead right now, and so they combined the categories in an attempt to not have to waste too much time grasping at straws over who to nominate. The MTV VMA's completely eradicated the R&B video category altogether. Seems very bigoted, but hey.
