Would you say that Bill Maher and Rush Limbaugh are basically the same extreme, on just polar opposite ends? Between the two, who do you think makes the most sense?

Limbaugh easily. Anybody who ever listens to the two can see that. Limbaugh is a far right and unwavering righty, but Maher is just a cheap shot shock-value nut. He's more comparable to the extremist Fundamentalist ministers.

I agree. Maher is an extremist but at least he doesn't have a case of the batshit crazy.

Maher is definetly to the left but because I'm familiar with both (a small office I used to work in had Limbaugh on the radio all the time and I wasn't able to tune him out) I know that he (Maher) is much more fair and balanced than Limbaugh. I think the talking head MSNBC got to replace Keith Olberman, Ed Schultz, is the left's answer to Limbaugh and Glenn Beck.

I don't listen to Rush Limbaugh, but the overall consensus is that he's a ranting, zealot for the right wing. Bill Maher I watch from time to time. I like the panel arguments on his show, but don't so much love the comedy he tries to mix into it. The panel will be arguing on some issue and then he interrupts them with some silly mockery of new items.

They are not the same extreme though. Maher has been known to go after the left on occassion while Limbaugh would be singing Satan's praises if he suddenly came out as a republican. Limbaugh never makes any sense! Maher is hit or miss. Sometimes he makes sense, other times he doesn't. The irony here is that Maher is a comedian, while Limbaugh actually thinks he's serious, lol. About the only thing they have in common is that they both think they are smarter than they actually are and that the majority of American people are stupider than either one of them. Okay, the second part might actually be true, but that's really not saying all that much. The fact is, anyone who actually keeps up with politics on both sides (using a variety of sources outside party lines and also within both parties) is generally more educated (or at least more neutral) than either of them. Bill knocks both parties when they are wrong. He doesn't do anyone's bidding, and will call the people he's been know to support to the carpet when they do something idiotic. Rush is a one trick pony and a puppet for the right wing.

No contest. Even if he is overzealous and obnoxious, Maher still usually makes sense. Limbaugh is an unreasonable blowhard and oaf.
