Before becoming a vegetarian, I was raised on Southern food.
I can still do alright with a Southern dinner, just pass on the fried chicken and gravy, maybe the butterbeans or black eyed peas if they have fat back in them.
However, most of it is still off my low-fat diet.

If it's fried or sweet. Eh....I dunno....sometimes southerners can hook up a meal, but other times you damn near need to inquire beforehand what it is they're trying to feed you.

I haven't tried a lot of Southern food, but I love a nice hearty meal of Southern fried chicken, mashed potatoes & gravy and corn.

I like many things but you can keep your collard greens, hominy grits, okra and sweet tea.

I am not a big fan. Though Mom was from the South, she didn't do a lot of Southern cooking.
