I have read those and a couple of the "Idiots' Guides". I think they are pretty helpful because no matter what on the supbject you are wondering, it is right there.
Of those I have read, I don't recall what was 'Idiots' or 'Dummies', but I know the best was was an intro to digital photography.

I know I had a Windows for Dummies waaaay back in the day. Like in '94. I never read it though.

I had a PC's for Dummies years ago. It's so outdated now it's funny.

Most of the ones I've read are history-related and yeah - I've found them useful.
