    Comedy-drama set during WWII in the South Pacific with Henry Fonda as a navy Lt. on a supply ship trying to join the war and get out from under maniacal Capt. Jimmy Cagney's thumb (in a rare unsympathetic role). Jack Lemmon won an Academy Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role (he beat out Sal Mineo for Rebel Without A Cause).
