We've had some minor discussions about this movie on here before but I don't think it ever had its own thread, so:

Who's seen this movie? It was one of the first horror movies I ever saw at about 2 or 3 years old and it's still one of my favorites. It's gone down in history as having one of the scariest moments, I'm sure anybody who's seen it will remember, that one jump scare:

Tom Savini had talked about going over it again and again to find out WHY it is so scary, and I think when you can come up with something that scares a Vietnam vet who is also one of the masters of horror in cinema, you know you're doing something right.

I loved Vincent Price and think this was one very memorable movie.

I agree, though I always thought his performance as Dr. Malcolm Wells in The Bat, which was also made that same year, was good as well even though it was a bit more minor than this:

Now THIS was my favorite horror movie as a kid, and I still can't figure out how it didn't become a classic also, because I can't see any way that it could be just another movie.

One of my favorite old time horror movies as well! I remember seeing first as a kid and when that skeleton came up from the acid vat I was terrified. The picture you posted of the blind lady and Nora was a scene that scared the hell out of me too. One of the greatest horror flicks ever made! Oh and the remake sucked big time.

They have a colorized version as well have you seen it?

Agreed about the remake, and its sequel was even WORSE!

Yeah I got the colorized version a few years back, I saw it and...I didn't care much for it. As a kid I saw a few lobby cards and such of what they look like in color and it didn't match what the DVD did with it.

I saw it in theater and when that skeleton was hoisted out of the acid he appeared on wires hovering in the theater.

Kinda hokey even then. One of the "tingler" type audience participation stunts they used to do.

Not one of Castle's better gimmicks that's for sure. Boys started coming to the show with slingshots and would shoot ball bearings and baseballs and I think somebody said oranges at the skeleton to hit it.
