I tried everything and still cannot master a simple poached egg. TV makes it seem so easy, but it's not.

It definitely isn't easy but I find the hardest part just making sure the egg doesn't break first. Next hardest thing is getting it and the toast both done in time that the egg's not hard. I've had a few years' experience in trying, and most of the time I make them pretty well.

I don't care for runny yokes so I don't worry if I can make one or not.

They have egg poacher's either electric or on the stove, pretty easy to use. They even have them for the microwave.

Re: Poached eggs.
I like them!
Chris - have you ever tried a microwave egg poacher? They're AWESOME and once you figure outhow long you need to get the consistency you want - soft, hard, etc, then it's a breeze! Makes for a quick breakfast, too.
