Fishing

So yesterday was the very first time I went fishing. It was all good, I was having fun. After a few hours, we hear that Rangers are checking for licenses. I'm under the impression that if one of us has a license then it's ok for everybody to fish. 2 girls I was with never told me I needed my own license. Anyway I stop fishing, so when they ask for mine, I could say I wasn't fishing. When they come and ask for mine, I tried telling them I wasn't fishing, he said, "nice try, you see where that bright green tree is across the lake? I been sitting there watching." I was like oh crap. I tried telling him that this was my very first time fishing, and not to give me the ticket. He said he had to my charm didn't work.

So I get the ticket, and I'm like, "Since I got the ticket already, can I continue fishing?" he laughed and said "no."

I asked how much the fine would be, he said "anywhere between $50-$150, depending on the judge, but don't worry he'll like you and go easy."

My aunt felt bad for taking me without a license and said she'll pay the fine for me.

All in all, my first fishing experience wasn't that great.

^^ I know, I'm glad my aunt is gonna pay for my ticket though.

That's crazy. My dad and uncles used to go fishing all the time....I don't think they've ever had or needed a license. Prob. new regulation that requires them to enforce it.

I tried talking my way out of it too, but he had also just giving someone else a ticket.

I hope it won't turn you off fishing completely. I haven't been in ages. What I liked best was taking a good book with me and reading while we fished - lol!

I grew up fishing on the creek in my back yard. Can be fun... but i never did the "boy" things like baiting the hook or removing the fish!

Glad u had a good time. Atleast you know that you like it now, so that you dont mind getting the license next time.

Thanks u two, no it didn't turn me off completely from fishing ever again... I just know to get a license next time.

I guess they sell single day licenses and year licenses at walmart for pretty cheap.

That sucks that you got nabbed. Around here the DNR is terrible about that and they do watch. If we go somewhere and my son and his dad are going to drop the lines in water, I won't even help carry the poles because you never know what the DNR will do.

The fines are much worse around here though, so it is awesome that your will be $150 at most. And very cool of your aunt to cover it for you.

I'm sorry that happened to you cheaps. I have heard of fishing licenses, but I honestly didn't think it was something that was all that enforced.
