I saw it night before last, too. Saw it as a kid and liked it even then. It's interesting to watch Cliff Robertson as a young man.
Joan was starting to age a bit but she was never one of my favorite Hollywood "beauties", anyway. But she was a great actress.
After watching the movie this last time, I watched the ending with the opinion that he appeared too normal after being in the hospital, and that she would have more "issues" with him down the road.
