This is the basis for one of the most popular ghost stories, somebody goes to the graveyard, sticks a knife in the ground to prove they were there, unknowingly pins their coat to the ground, feels themselves being pulled into the graves and die of fright. But did you ever do it?
I don't know how common this idea is or if it even happens anymore, it would seem though at one time or another such dares were thrown around among the 'yutes'. If anybody would've ever suggested it to me as a kid I would never have done it because first of all it's impossible to sneak out of our house without waking someone up, another is it's about a mile or more away and it would be hard as hell if you were caught to justify being out that far at night.
Anybody else got a little more insight on this kind of stuff or is it more of an old wives' tale or something?
