question about when you were a kid and your friendships

When you were a kid, did you have a couple best friends that you did almost everything with, or did you jump around and have a couple weeks where you were all about one or two kids, then the next few weeks, it was another...and so on?

I ask because my son has been that way this summer. He has some very close friends, but since winter, he will hang with one for a week or so then the next segment of time, it is all about the next. And it isn't as if they are in an argument or anything, he just will be all about biking to somebody's house for a week or so, then the next week, he is biking to another's house. They all do usually end up at the same parks and stuff, so maybe I am over thinking it. It's just that when I was old enough to get more freedom to bike places, there was a small group to chose from, so we were all we had! I just hope he isn't getting bored fast with friends because that is not a good thing.

I had a set amount of friends. Same people. My best friend, her mother and my mother were very good friends too. We all did everything together.

I had a couple of close friends that I would get into mischief with.

2 friends was pretty much all I had growing up because every other kid on the block moved away only after a few months and I didn't know them very well because they were all older like my brother.

My mother didn't allow us to go to my girl friend's house very often so we'd have some days we'd be together, and then maybe a week or more that we didn't do anything, and the boy was always coming over but at that time I preferred her, we were both in agreement that we didn't like him, but he was the only other kid on the block, so I didn't have much choice but to hang out with him as well.

I pretty much kept the same core group of about three friends. From there, we'd each integrate other friends into the group from time to time. They'd come and go, but it was always the four of us at the end of the day.

I remember having 2 or 3 friends that were consistent. The rest of them were people who dipped in and out of the picture. I used to call them "associates."

I had about 2-3 friends that I constantly did stuff with. Each different from each place I lived, I went to 4 different elementary schools. For some reason with every new school, I never stayed in touch with the previous set of friends, except for the last group whom I went to junior high with, even then in junior high is when most of us drifted apart.

Throughout childhood and my teenage years, I think there was always three consistent friends around. Everyone else came and went.
