you had to pay when you went out because they were usually broke?
with this its the other way around, I get invited places and decline because I don't have money for it, but get insisted to come anyway. I do try to return the favor when I'm able to.

I did have a 'friendship' like that somewhat. But it was a little different because her family really didn't have a lot of money, so if I was going somewhere, I'd invite her to come and my people or I would pay. Haven't seen or spoken to her in years.

I have had it where I am the one who initiates plans and am the listening ear without anything in return. Now that I am onler, I get rid of people like that before too long.

Yes. I once was friends with someone who never called me. I was always the one who did it and when I said one day "Hey why don't you ever call me?" He said that it was because he figured I'd eventually do it.

A few but they didn't last long, because soon I got tired of being the only one making effort and lost interest.
