Going to my first NASCAR race!

I'm going to the Meijer 300 race at Kentucky Speedway tonight (I live about 90 mins away), I've never been to a NASCAR event even though I'm a huge fan!

But I'm worried that they might not race tonight. It's in Sparta, KY and there's an 80% chance of rain for most of the day. Thankfully the race doesn't start until 8, but even after then there is a 40% chance of rain the rest of the night. I really hope it doesn't get pushed back because if it does it will be Monday afternoon and there is no way I can go.

When did your local news say that it's supposed to rain?

My local news said it wasn't gonna rain much, but I'm south of it and it's supposed to rain up there. My local news doesn't cover that area.

Oh, it rained. About 15 minutes after the race ended. And we had to walk for about 20 minutes in the rain to get out and find the car, which wasn't easy since we totally forgot where we parked!!! LOL!

I had a great time though! Just the atmosphere of it all was really cool. The cars look so much different on TV then they do up-close.
The race itself wasn't bad, and I got to see a few wrecks as they happened!

Overall, a great experience and I will definitely be making this trip a regular thing.

Yes it did

Another thing that was really great was that Joey Logano, who won the race, was running the #20 GameStop Toyota with a picture of Mario riding Yoshi on his hood... we kept making jokes about how if he gets behind he's gonna blue shell the leader and the #33 spun out behind him and we said he threw out a banana peel. It was awesome.

Great for you...glad you had fun. I have never been to a Nascar race, but I did tour Indy. I thought it was just mind-blowing how much bigger it all is than one imagines from seeing it on TV. Sorry you got rained on en route to the car...at least it did not begin while you were in the stands!

In my life I only been to one Nascar race back when I was a kid. It was exciting then. Wouldn't mind checking out another one. Back then my family was really into that sort of thing Nascar and Monster Truck shows, etc.
