Jason Momoa looks like a good choice. I thought he was pretty good as Khal Drogo in Game of Thrones.

This is what they need to shoot for

i remember seeing the original when I was younger, along with Red Sonja.

But the remake I'll pass on, doesn't interest me.

Conan the Barbarian
Movie Blurb by Shale
August 19, 2011

It Is What It Is!

OK, this is not the 1982 Conan with Arnold Schwarzenegger and before the purists start bemoaning remaking another 'classic,' remember that this is a comic book franchise since 1970 and the story goes back to 1932 by pulp writer Robert E. Howard. So, that said, look at it as another episode of an old story based on a comic book.

I thot Jason Momoa looked more barbaric as the titular character than did the Arnold and the movie was more barbaric in its visuals, which BTW were very well done.

Remember when Arnold's Barbarian said the best in life was "to crush your enemies, to see them driven before you and to hear the lamentations of their women." Well, Momoa's Barbarian has a similar life philosophy that is more succinct. "I live, I love, I slay ... I am content." The slaying has a lot of cutoff heads and blood spatter, the living is quite raucous and the loving more graphic with a lot more boobie's on screen. Too bad it is rated R - so many 13-year-old boys would enjoy this movie.

This episode begins with young Conan being cut out of his mother who dies in battle. As a teen he proves himself a worthy warrior and when his village is overrun by the horde army of Khalar Zym (Stephen Lang) he escapes with the help of Corin (Ron Perlman) his father and leader of the Cimmerians who dies in the process.

Years later our grown Conan, who excels in pillaging and setting chained slaves free, (especially the naked females who instantly love him) finds out where Khalar is and sets out to kill him.

At the same time, Khalar is looking to put together a magical mask that will bring back his with wife and make him supreme ruler. He needs pure blood to make the mask work and that would be Tamara (Rachel Nichols) a novitiate in a monastery who is learning martial arts.

Of course Conan and Tamara meet and end up joining to fight Khalar.

There are the usual sword battles and even sand warriors conjured by Khalar's talon-fingered witch daughter, Marique (Rose McGowan).

Thus you see what it is. If you are the kind of kid who watched and enjoyed the original Conan movie you should enjoy this one. I did.
