Off topic here, I remember when I was 8 and saw Vegas Vacation for the first time, I asked my mother 'what's a pick-me-up?' and she said it was a drink. So that made it VERY confusing the next year when I saw Jim Henson's Dinosaurs on TV and in one episode Earl buries the grandmother Ethel after mistakenly believing she's dead and says 'yeah and throwing your mother-in-law into a ditch is also a good pick-me-up!'


Anyway, when you're in a bad mood or upset or just feeling down or depressed or whatever, what's something that can usually bring you out of that mood?

For me, something funny usually works. When one of our dearest neighbors died, I was absolutely inconsolable, I cried for hours, didn't eat, I was just depressed, my brother God bless him, turned on the TV to Whose Line is it Anyway, and it was an episode where they did my favorite game, The Irish Drinking song, and we watched that for about an hour and I laughed so hard and so much at that.


But usually whenever I'm feeling sour or down, nothing works better than the golden oldies: the 3 Stooges, Buster Keaton, Harold Lloyd, the Marx Brothers, Red Skelton, Abbott and Costello, they're always good.

Yeah, basically laughter or some good music.

Being around Friends/family... I don't like to be alone when I'm feeling down.

It really depends on how low my mood is. Sometimes family and close friends lift my spirits, other times their presence won't help and may even irritate me more. Sometimes food helps, but that's a crap shoot.

My favorite TV show, movie, or book is usually a slam dunk in taking my mind off my troubles, even if only momentary.

A good laugh.

Being near my healthy son always keeps me in check and happy even when things are really bad.

Shopping for something that I really wanted for awhile. Finally getting it cause i feel i deserve it will make me feel better

I have to pull myself out of the mood, not too much is funny to me when I am feeling that way. I usually get over it in moderate time.
