It's been said that for years after this film was made, Frank Capra received letters from many people who had seen it and were inspired to go into politics. This seems to be one of those movies that either you like or you don't, and a lot of people don't, they don't like the idealistic views of Jimmy Stewart's character, but I like the movie. I wish they would've kept the parade scene in the end since they had it in the trailer. Anybody else seen it?

I've never kept count of how many times I've seen MSGTW, but it's many.
While viewing this film you must keep in mind it's 1939 and it's directed by Frank Capra. His films are about as American as apple pie. It's during a era when movie fans wanted these types of films.
One of the greatest supporting cast, including Harry Carey VP and Jean Arthur, among others.
It's too bad we don't have more idealist senators, today.
An American classic

Instead we have T-party Reptilians who got elected because their undeliverable soundbite promises were so appealing to the ignorant masses.Supernova wrote: Totally, we need a Jefferson Smith, we need a hundred Jefferson Smiths.

IMO it deserves it's status as a classic and apparently pissed off just everyone in power, but it isn't my favorite Jimmy Stewart movie.

It was on again tonight and I caught the tail end of it waiting for All The President's Men to come on...no matter how many times you see it, it just never loses its appeal. And we STILL need more Jefferson Smiths in congress today.
