| Have you ever had a cooking disaster? If so, what were you trying to make? | |

| I'm sure I've fucked up but nothing major comes to mind. I've been a dinner guest where the newly wed cook had to make a substitution for cognac in the main course. She had blackberry brandy. The cheesecake for dessert was on the chewy side too. | |

| The main thing that comes to mind is the chicken & dumplings that boiled over & caught the entire burner on fire. | |

| Not cooking, but a couple years back when we had the swine flu, I don't know where my mind was, I was always forgetting things, well one day my mom wanted peanut butter cookies, she never makes them herself, that has to be one of my jobs...so I read the recipe and put everything in like it says, except that I only get 1/4 a cup of brown sugar put in instead of 1 & 1/4 cup...it was a long time before she let that one go. | |

| When I was a young man living on my own for the first time I was boiling some eggs and fell asleep. I woke up to a sulfur dioxide smelling apartment and black crusty eggs in the melting aluminum pan.
Other than that, no real 'disasters.' Sometimes the food was messed up but not uneatable. Like a lot of guys I experiment in the kitchen and the success is my upside down omelet which, instead of folding it over, flip it in the skillet and cook until the cheese is crusty. Very good.
Not so successful was my Cheeto omelet. A good idea but the Cheetos lose their crunch. | |

| I once tried to make a home made white cake. I had forgotten I had put the 2 cups of sugar in the mix and added another two. It rose and spilled all over the oven and then it was like a brick in the baking pan!!!

| I always said that I was going to bake a cake with salt instead of sugar and serve it as a gag gift. I might do that soon....... | |
