Do you think that girls under the age of eighteen ought to be able to have their pregnancies terminated without parental consent?

I think girls under 18 should have parents that keep a close watch on them and know what's going on in their lives, so they don't get into the position of needing an abortion in the first place.

Can a minor have any other elective medical procedure without parental consent? Can't even get a tattoo but you can get an abortion?

I think a more controversial question is can parents force a minor to get an abortion?

They can't do anything else medically without parental consent, so no, they shouldn't be able to do it without parental consent. And they shouldn't be forced to abort either. Of course, if we actually made all murder illegal, this wouldn't be an issue. Smile

Once the "child" under 18 HAS the baby, they become an emancipated minor technically in most cases. At 16, they are eligible for medicaid, welfare, and then the Pell Grant to go to school because now they have the baby they are considered "independent" from their parents.

At 16, WITH a child, they have the right to sign contracts signing away the baby to adoption agencies, their parents, etc. By having sex they already made a life altering decision. Now YES--- they should have to live with the consequences of making the decision of whether to have it or not, and any complications that may come with the procedure. Some parents just throw their kids out of the house if pregnant---seen it done. So how could a "child" go to a "loving" parent with this topic?
