This was the first movie I had to see in my film class, and easily the most normal of them all. It seems to have gotten some kind of marathon on AMC the last couple days, just rerunning it again and again and again. It's an okay movie but I don't find it all that great, though it was entertaining to see Clancy Brown (who to me will always be The Kurgan ) as the head guard Hadley.

I really enjoyed it. Great film.

Just curious. What titles made up your curriculum?

Shawshank, Juno, Moulin Rouge, The Game, Requiem for a Dream, Donnie Darko, and one other one I can't remember the name of, something about Jack Nicholson is a gangster and the cops are being killed off one by one, and somebody in the department idolized him as a kid, etc. Our introduction into this class was 'be prepared to be shocked, disgusted, appalled, mortified, etc.', and boy did that chick know what she was talking about.

Sounds like The Departed. I guess I just have a higher tolerance. None of these titles came close to shocking, disgusting, appalling, mortifying, etc.

Did you see The Shawshank Redemption?

Yep. Great movie.

I read the story before I saw the movie. Made no never mind that Andy is about a foot shorter in the story and Red is a white red head. They had to make some concessions brining it to the screen but it's still a great movie.
