Red's question about wearing white made me think of this. Serial Mom was written and directed by John Waters (Hairspray, Cry-Baby, Pink Flamingos) and stars Kathleen Turner as a seemingly "normal" middle class mother and wife who tends to overreact to the smallest insult or slight against her family. She's finally put on trial and is acquitted but it's after Labor Day and one of the jurors (Patty Hurst in a cameo) is wearing white!

This sounds so familiar but I don't recall it completely. I must have only seen part of it some time. I am not huge on Kathleen Turner.
