John Carpenter's 1982 film The Thing is being remade.

IIRC they were Norwegian but regardless. Looks to me that's what they do. The trailer shows them discovering the Thing in a block of ice.

In Carpenter's version it was already out and had taken one of the dogs. That's how it was brought back to the American compound.
