Why is is that every other day when I turn my computer on there is a Windows Update. This is a bit annoying at times because I then have to wait and get the update before I do anything else. I bought my computer last May, 5 months before Windows 7 came out. I am operating on Windows Vista, does anyone else get these frequent updates?

Re: Windows Update
Same here. In my case it isn't Windows, because I have a Mac...but every Saturday night, like clockwork, I get an install and upgrade notice.

Re: Windows Update
I get them from time to time. My computer is 2 years old, so of course I have Vista....and I don't like it. I'm thinking about just getting Windows 7 installed on this computer instead of buying another one.

Re: Windows Update
The worse part is when that shit happens when you're away from the PC. You come back and it's...um, when did I shut the computer down?

Re: Windows Update
You can adjust when it does downloads and installs of the updates. Sounds like right now it's probably set to dl them and install automatically, so yeah you won't really have much choice there.
If you go into the control panel and open the Windows Security Center, you can set it to either download only and ask you when to install, or set it so that you do both manually. But unless you've got good, up-to-date anti-virus software, or you're just really good about being cautious where you go online, etc, I'd let Windows have at least some control over it.

Re: Windows Update
Thanks. I just let it do its thing, since there are so many updates I figure that it is wise to just do it and come back when its finished.
